STICKY BUNS

 

2 ¾ to 3 ¼ c. flour

¼ c. sugar

¾ tsp. salt

1/3 c. brown sugar

1 package active dry yeast

¼ c. softened margarine

¾ c. very hot tap water

1 egg at room temperature

 

In a large bowl, thoroughly mix 1 c. of the flour, the sugar, salt and undesolved yeast. Add softened margarine. Gradually add very hot tap water to dry ingredients and beat 2 minutes at medium speed on mixer, scraping bowl occasionally. Add egg & ¼ c. flour. Beat at high speed for 2 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Stir in enough additional flour to make soft dough. Turn out onto lightly floured board. Knead till smooth and elastic, about 8-10 minutes. Roll dough into a rectangle about 16” x 10”. Spread w/2T. of melted butter. Mix ¼ c. sugar w/1 ½ tsp. cinnamon & spread evenly on rectangle. Roll up jelly-roll fashion & cut into ¾” sections w/string. Meanwhile, prepare topping for pan. Melt 2 T. margarine, add 1 T. water and 1/3 c. packed brown sugar. Combine and heat over low heat till mixture bubbles. Place section of rolls in pan w/cut edges down. Cover w/plastic wrap and refrigerate 4-48 hours-or cover & put in warm place for 1 hour. Remove buns from refrigerator about 1 ½ hours before serving time and allow to come to room temperature-about 1 hour. Bake at 350º for 25-30 minutes.
